Getting to Chamonix
By air:
The nearest airport is Geneva, about 80 km northwest of Chamonix. The airport connects to most of the major international destinations, some of which are also served by low-cost flight operators.
Geneva airport
If you will be flying into Geneva, send us your flight details so that we can organise a transfer to Chamonix for you. Transfer fee is €30 per trip per person. If you require transport, please select the relevant option on the registration payment page.
Other useful airports include Lyon (226 km) and Paris (612 km), with train connections to Chamonix via St. Gervais-les-Bains (Le Fayet).
By train or bus:
Chamonix can be accessed by a breathtakingly scenic small railway line from St. Gervais-les-Bains (Le Fayet) in France to Martigny in Switzerland. Parts of the railway line have been under reconstruction since last autumn and have been covered by replacement buses.
There is also a road connection to Italy via the tunnel under the Mont-Blanc.
If you arrive by train or bus, one of our volunteers will pick you up from the station free of charge.
Driving
If you are driving we might be able to fit your car in the UCPA car park (first come first serve!). If we see some opportunities for car sharing as the bookings arrive we will put you in touch with the relevant participants.
